DIRECT FLIGHTS NOW OFFERED BETWEEN SANTA MARIA AND LAS VEGAS
Since launching direct flights
in January of 2006 between Santa Maria, California and Las Vegas, Nevada,
Allegiant Air has extended its nonstop jet-service between the two cities to
now include Fridays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
“We are extremely pleased to extend the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop
jet service to the Central Coast community,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant
Air president & CEO said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline
and our customers as we offer the only scheduled nonstop service between
Santa Maria and Las Vegas.”
The new flights operate three times weekly between Santa Maria Airport and
McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas), with service Wednesday, Friday
and Sunday.
Santa Maria Airport General Manager Gary Rice is pleased that Allegiant Air
recognizes Santa Maria as the best Central Coast gateway for its jet service
to Las Vegas. “The Airport District offers Allegiant and its customers ease
of access, low operating costs and free parking in a friendly and inviting
atmosphere,” Rice said.
The airline was influenced by market research and input from local community
leaders indicating that the Central Coast community welcomes new nonstop
flights and low fares to Las Vegas as an alternative to connecting flights
or long drives to other airports. The carrier utilizes a full-size, 150-seat
MD-80 jet aircraft on the route.
